High Performing 433 FM26 Tactic: Good to Great

Introduction

Not another 433 FM26 tactic, I hear you say! This one is for the midtable teams, the teams you want to push to Europe or the title. This is what we call a good to great FM26 tactic.

The philosophy here is solid defence in a 433 and then transition into a 3241 with a deep lying forward. The man attacking midfield is a thing to behold when it is in motion.

Read on to see the records we have broken!

Tactic Overview

I’ve been experimenting with a number of transitions to make this 433 FM26 tactic. I find the out of possession side is pretty easy to put together, but there are so many options in possession.

I’ve gone for the standard 32 defence, the 3 centre backs and 2 midfielders. This helps with possession moving up the field, but more importantly with the defence against counters. This is important as we are playing a gegenpress tactical style, which plays a high line and we want to negate the threat.

As we are using a Gegenpress tactical style this means that we have chosen to use a positive mentality. This will help us take the game to the opposition and centrally too.

Key Player Roles & Instructions

Defence

Defensively there isn’t much to say really, when in transition the left back is shuffling to the centre to create the three. The right back inverts into the midfield alongside the holding midfielder.

Out of possession the full backs are pressing full backs as we are playing gegenpress.

Midfield

In turn the midfielders with the attacking roles move up into the AMC position as advanced playmakers. This is where the 433 FM26 tactic comes to life, it means they will provide through balls galore to the wingers or the striker.

Out of possession the holding midfielder is a DM, and the centre midfielders are pressing midfielders.

Attack

Our next unit to speak about in the 433 FM26 tactic are the wingers. These guys are going to launch balls in if we can’t get in through the front of the box. Waiting in the middle is our deep lying forward who drops off and maybe takes a defender with him.

Team Instructions Explained

In Possession

So I don’t think I need to explain the ins and outs of the Gegenpress 433 FM26 tactic. The tactic works in possession by playing at a high tempo after winning the ball back. The problem is that is plays down the centre, but that also keeps the ball close as we can counter press straight away.

Out of Possession

Out of possession this is where gegenpress excels. We want to be lightning quick to recover the ball by pressing straight away. This is achieved by funnelling the opposition down the centre channel to make it easier to counter.

Strengths of the 433 FM26 Tactic

So the 433 FM26 tactic is one of the classics and the go to when it comes to gegenpressing. The numerous options you have available in terms of transitions gives it a high flexibility rating.

For example, we can have the wingers cut in to become strikers, the full backs push up to AML/AMR positions and a MC push into AMC. Or we could have both wings doing something different, one cutting in, the other holding the width. Then a full back inverting to midfield and the other pushing up high.

The options are endless. Obviously it depends on your players, but you have options whatever squad you have. Check out our other 433 FM26 tactic.

Weaknesses & How to Fix Them

It’s very difficult to see the weaknesses to the 433, but you can see potential problems with Gegenpress.

With any Gegenpress system your biggest worry is your defensive line. The Achilles heel of the 433 FM26 tactic is through balls, either over the top or through the line. It also limits your scope in terms of defenders, they are going to have to fast and physically fit.

Best Save Games for This Tactic

The best teams to use the 433 FM26 tactic are mid table teams that are looking to push on up. There are a whole host of examples of team doing this in real life such as Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Girona. Now this is our chance to do it with another team. Try these teams:

  • Mallorca, La Liga
  • Paris FC, Ligue Un
  • West Ham, Premier League
  • Fiorentina, Serie A
  • Mainz, Bundesliga

Results & Testing

I have had some crazy results using the 433 FM26 tactic.

We finished 4th in La Liga in the first season with an aging team, which is ironic for a gegenpressing team. Also we managed to get 37 league goals from the “Monster of Mallorca” Muriqi, Mbappe only managed 24.

Considering we were not predicted to be anywhere near the top of the table to snatch a Champions League slot is amazing. This in itself is proof that this 433 FM26 tactic is overpowered and achieving great things.

Final Thoughts

This FM26 tactic has served me very well this season bringing the best out of a lot of my players. Having a player scoring more than he is playing is seriously impressive and who knows, a couple of good signings and we could be pushing for the title.

Give the tactic patience as like any tactic, it will need a bedding in period before it explodes. Whatever you do guys, have fun with and tell us more in the comments below.
