West Ham FM26 Team Guide – Time to rebuild

Is this a flashback?

Welcome to the West Ham FM26 team guide! This might as well be a rebuild guide after the last couple of seasons of misery.

This West Ham guide will look at the expectations of the board and fans, the key individuals, the young prospects and how to build a FM26 tactic with them. C’mon you Irons!

West Ham FM26 Club Overview

Here we are the West Ham FM26 team guide! Obviously this will be fairly biased as The Hammers are my favourite club.

The point of this guide is to understand the club and to put in place the foundations for you to succeed. This will include the club overview with the supporter and board expectations. Now the board and the supporters don’t always see things the same way, let’s have a look at those objectives.

Board objectives:

  • Play attacking football
  • Develop youth players
  • Sign players under 22 for the future
  • Do not sign players over 30

Supporter objectives:

  • Play attacking football
  • Sign high rep players

So there is obviously a shared interest in playing attacking, who doesn’t like attacking football? The board are more interested in buying young and developing players for the first team. The supporters on the other hand want to buy high reputation players.

My advice as a West Ham fan, do not upset the fans, because they will be on your back forever.

Key Players

Our next step in our West Ham FM26 team guide is to look at the assistant report and decide who our key players are. Once I have filtered out the key players, I will then use their positions to map out a formation.

So I like what I am seeing, we have a wide range of positions available and 2 strikers! The main thing to take from this is our core players are our key players. This reminds me of the old Chelsea recruitment under Mourinho, so there is promise.

Best Youth Prospects

Our next stage is to look at the youngsters and wonderkids to see what we the assistant thinks of them. Through this report it will help us to identify the most promising youngsters so we can push them through their strengths.

So looking at the youngsters we have two players which stand head and shoulders above the rest, Fernandes and Magassa. Ironically these were two new signings in the summer, but shows the direction the club wants to go in.

Looking at the youngsters it would appear a 433 is forming. This is great because we have a strong core in the key players and the youngsters fit the wider positions too. I feel confident that a Chelsea type model is forming here.

West Ham FM26 Wonderkids & Young Talents

Next up in the West Ham FM26 team guide are the wonderkids. These players are identified as being the highest potential, so we want to make sure the reach their potential. We also want them to develop and be part of your plans. The wonderkids at West Ham are:

  • El Hadji Malick Diouf
  • Luis Guilherme

West Ham FM26 Tactics & Best Formation

Here we are the main part of the West Ham FM26 team guide, our tactic that we have decided to take forward. The tactic will be an amalgamation of all the key points so far in this guide. It’s like building a car engine, we need to understand the result and the process to make it work.

The first point is that we are going to use the Gegenpress tactical style after our discovery of the board and supporter objectives. The supporters and board objectives involved attacking football, which is a choice between tiki taka and Gegenpress. There is no way we are technical enough to get tiki taka to work at the moment, but I believe our press would be great.

This transition is perfect for West Ham due to the number of defensive minded core players that they have. The 433 into 451 and vice versa is one of the traditional transitions in football. There is a clear boundary between attack and defence.

Positions to Strengthen

As you may have gathered from the West Ham FM26 team guide goals and scoring are a big problem with the Hammers. So this is the area that I would recommend to start looking into. A new striker can change the whole character of your tactical style, so be careful who you buy.

As we are using a Gegenpress system the stats that I focussing on are Work Rate, Acceleration, Anticipation, Stamina, Aggression. I did some research a while ago about the attributes that affect tactical styles.

Potential Signings

  • Roko Simic
  • Manfred Ugalde
  • Mika Biereth (highly recommended)
  • Marin Ljubicic
  • Phil Harres

West Ham FM26 Save Challenges

Ultimately this West Ham FM26 team guide is going to be used for rebuilds up and down the land. The Hammers have had a couple of rough years and it has really affected the club. The disconnect between the fans and board has never been so great.

So to summarise, West Ham United are a rebuild to take them back to European glory.

Conclusion

West Ham are a team close to my heart so everything I say about them can be biased. This West Ham FM26 team guide should help you build the very foundations of your club. This will help you achieve the goals that you set yourself.

I played a half a season game with the Hammers to see how we got on using the team guide. To my surprise we managed to get to 8th in the table and on the road to Europe hopefully.

As you can see the some old problems are haunting us regarding the lack of goals. Anyway that is my problem to sort out.

Have fun with my team, this rebuild may take time but I get the feeling it will be rewarding.
