Transition? Or Rebuild?
Welcome to the Real Madrid FM26 team guide! As one of the most followed and successful clubs in the world, I had to do this guide.
In this Real Madrid FM26 team guide we are going to assess the current squad by looking at the key players, effective tactics, top wonderkids and transfer tips.
By the end of this guide you will have clear and concise understanding of how to manage Real Madrid.
Real Madrid FM26 Club Overview
So here we go, the first step in our Real Madrid FM26 team guide. This is where we look at the board and support expectations and how it will affect the way we play. The board and supporters are rather important, ignoring them could affect our job.
Firstly, let’s look at the Board objectives as they have quite the list. A lot of the objectives are recruitment based, the only playstyle one is that they want attacking football. This means that they want either Possession Control, Gegenpress or Tiki Taka football.
In terms of the recruitment needs, they are looking at a few different recruitment pools. The first is anyone who is under 28 and has a high reputation, the second pool is domestic talent from rivals under 28 and the third is players under 21 with potential.

The supporter objectives are different, they want a play style and a marquee signing. In terms of play style they want attacking football, so Gegenpress, Tiki Taka, or Possession Control. They also want direct football, so of those styles Gegenpress is the obvious choice.

Real Madrid FM26 Squad Guide
Key Players
This is the part of the Real Madrid FM26 team guide where we identify the key players in the squad. We do this by using the assistant reports, using the current ability stars. Once we have done that I will map out their best positions and what formations that leaves us with.
Get ready to be envious, the key players of Real Madrid are some of the best players in the world. While I do agree they are going through a transition period look at the names. Mbappe, Courtois, Vini Jnr, Bellingham, and they have bought them for the long term.
There’s a couple of formations that come to mind, like the 424, 4231 DM and also a crazy custom job I’m thinking about.

Best Youth Prospects
So this is where we filter out the great youngsters and wonderkids at the club, and believe me there are some. We filter them by potential ability as opposed to current ability, but we still use their best position to map out the formations.
So we have two types of youngster here, which links into the board objectives. We have the high current ability youngster, the ones which are ready now like Bellingham and Camavinga. Then we have the high potential youngsters like Guler and Endrick.

After mapping the youngsters, it feels like a 4231 DM or something a little more customised. With specialist players you can go down this route as they all bring something different.
Real Madrid FM26 Wonderkids & Young Talents
One of the hottest subjects in the Real Madrid FM26 guide is the wonderkids section. Everyone loves to buy the wonderkids and sometimes stockpile them to make a profit. Real Madrid do not tend to produce many wonderkids, but they tend to buy them in early and develop them.
As you can see from this list there are a few that you can use early doors in your squad:
- Dean Huijsen
- Arda Guler
- Cesar Palacios
- Richard Fettal
- Ferran Quetglas
Arda Guler seems to have been a wonderkid for years.
Real Madrid FM26 Tactics & Best Formation
Let’s put everything from the Real Madrid FM26 team guide together and see what we have conjured up. This is a result of all the sections previous and the qualitive data we have observed. Trust me I think you are going to enjoy this one!
Looking at the shape I have gone with the 442 out of possession and a 316 in possession. Yes I know it sounds mad, but I have created it with the Galaticos in mind. This time I have Trent down the right, moving over to DM and the other 3 defenders make a 3 man block.
The midfield all step up in attack, just like the days of Zidane, Figo and Beckham. While we have two very capable strikers scoring for fun. I must admit I wasn’t sure this would work, but currently I am having so much fun with the team.

This shape works even better if you use the FM26 433 transition model.

Positions to Strengthen
So let’s be honest if anything this Real Madrid FM26 team guide has highlighted, it is the strength and depth that Real Madrid have. One area I am not happy with is ST, you could play Mbappe there, but he prefers playing out on the left. Also taller strikers seem to be performing better onFM26 so that might be worth looking into.
Potential Signings
For me I am still living in the Real Madrid Galatico era, so I am only interested in buying another superstar. We seem to have a position up front and I need a world class forward to do that. Haaland and Martinez both lead the way in terms of targets, but it’s not going to be cheap so leave it until the end of the season.
Real Madrid FM26 Save Challenges
Nothing, but sheer domination of the trophies will make me happy here. I want to go back to the Galatico days and make them as successful as possible. This would mean winning every trophy possible in one season and potentially going invincible too. Can you take on the challenge?
Conclusion
Who doesn’t want to manage Real Madrid? I mean just look at what they have access to in terms of finances, players and infrastructure. The expectations are high and they want results and they want them now.
I managed Real Madrid for a bit of fun using the pointers from the Real Madrid FM26 team guide. As you can see we are in the title race, but we are a little behind Barca, which is a kick in the teeth. We have scored an insane amount of goals by Christmas. Let’s hope that after January we get a decent of results and put the pressure on.

Have fun with Real Madrid, it’s a team that wants to dominate and could fill your trophy cabinet for you.
