Toon Army Assemble
Welcome to the Newcastle United FM26 team guide! This is going to be an exciting guide based on a team with an upward trajectory.
Newcastle are in the post Isak era. With this guide we will look at the expectations, the key players, the wonderkids and most importantly how to build a tactic. C’mon the toon!
Newcastle FM26 Club Overview
Now this is it, the Newcastle United FM26 team guide. Our first step is to get a feel for the culture at the club, to understand how they want to play. Going against this identity can land you the sack in a short time if results do not go your way.
Firstly the board want to sign players under 23 who can play at first team level. This is a recruitment directive and nothing more, you can follow a similar recruitment model Dortmund did years ago.
Secondly, we have the supporters objectives and they are directly related to your tactics and play style. They want attacking football, so that is a choice between Gegenpress or Tiki Taka football. They want high tempo pressing, so that indicates Gegenpress out of the two styles.

So there we have it, the Newcastle United FM26 team guide methodology has led to Gegenpress football. No real surprise as most teams in the Premier League use high pressing in one way or another.

Newcastle United FM26 Squad Guide
Key Players
So the key players in the squad are the players that we base our whole tactic around. They are the rock and foundation of the team and we will map out our formation using them first. This gives me an idea of the shape we are looking at.
It is of no surprise that the key players in the Newcastle FM26 team guide are the famous three. Guimaraes, Tonali and Joelinton are the very foundation of Eddie’s Newcastle in real life. The next positions are the bull backs and Mr Gordon on the left wing. 433 anyone?

Best Youth Prospects
Now this is my favourite part every year, seeing what promising youngsters and wonderkids each team have. We will put together a formation from the top youngsters and map it out over the formation the key players create. We can then devise a suitable formation.
Looking at the list of youngsters, Lewis Hall tops the list. They have been talking about him for a while, so make use of him, introduce to the first team. You can see the success planning at the club with the full backs too. 433 it is then.

Newcastle United FM26 Wonderkids & Young Talents
One of the more exciting sections of the Newcastle United FM26 team guide, the wonderkids! The good news is that the Magpies seem to have a decent list of high potential youngsters. As a result you will want to focus on them and build them into your tactical plans. The wonderkids art Newcastle are:
- Lewis Hall
- Leo Shahar
- Rory Finneran
- Lewis Miley
- Trevan Sanusi
- Antonito Cordero
- Vakhtang Salia
Newcastle United FM26 Tactics & Best Formation
Here we are the tactics section of the Newcastle United FM26 team guide. This is what all of our efforts above have focussed towards, and now we actually have something to offer. We are basically unlocking a puzzle with each step.
As we spoke about earlier we have decided on Gegenpress tactical style as it falls into line with the board and supporter objectives. This style works really well with young teams with plenty of energy and a central formation. This is great because our players form a 433 easily, which coincidentally is the best Gegenpress formation.
The main focus of roles are the out of possession roles. With a gegenpressing system we need to have pressing roles around the pitch or the system doesn’t work. The only problem is that we need to be careful of the high line and getting hit with through balls. Enter the sweeper keeper.

Positions to Strengthen
After reading our Newcastle United FM26 team guide you would have noticed that there were very few urgent positions to be covered. While the team has generally a good level of depth the main I would look at is DC and potentially GK.
As we are playing a Gegenpress system the attributes I will look for are Work Rate, Acceleration, Anticipation, Stamina, Aggression. I did some research a while back into attributes that affect tactical style.
Potential Signings
- Adamo Nagalo (PSV)
- Finn Jeltsch (Stuttgart)
- Jeremy Jacquet (Rennes)
- Loic Williams (Granada)
- Christian Mawissa (Monaco)
