Whatever club you opt to manage will be unique, they will bring their strengths, weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats. Each one has a story for you to create whether that be a rebuild, a youth project or an underdog miracle.
Whether you’re looking for the best Football Manager 26 team to manage or need in-depth team guides, this page will help you plan your next save.
What Are FM26 Team Guides?
So FM26 team guides are detailed guides based on an individual team. These guides will take you through the board and supporter expectations, the squad ability and suggested tactics using the information gathered about the club.
Our guides are designed to help players choose their ideal save, or to help you get started with a club. The ideas shared will be backed by the data and linked together to help you in the future.
Every guide will link the expectations of the club, the squad ability to the strategy that is employed. This will be a good launchpad for any club you start with.

Types of FM26 Teams You Can Manage
There are a number of broad categories that teams fall under. It’s important to recognise where your club is now when you plan for where you want to get to.
Think of the Southampton five year plan for example, they knew where they were and they knew where they wanted to get to. You can’t just say you want to win the Premier League when you are in league one, you need to build to it.
The bottom line is that each team takes a different approach to the last and that’s how we base our FM26 team guides.
Elite Powerhouses
These FM26 team guides are about your title challengers, the teams who dominate the league. This includes clubs like Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
These teams are what they call Super Clubs. They have plenty of history in the big competitions and have the biggest fan bases in the world, well may be not City.
Rebuilds
One of my personal favourites, the Football Manager rebuild challenges. Man United has been a firm favourite for a lot of people over the years. Chelsea, Palermo, St Etienne and Schalke among other teams which have fallen from grace over recent times.
Fallen Giants
Another one of my favourite FM26 team guides are the Fallen Giant guides. These are slightly different to the rebuild challenges as they may be teams that used to feature in the top league, but aren’t there now. This would include teams like Norwich, Barnsley, Swindon and Oldham Athletic.
Can you take them back to the Premier League? Enjoy the journey!
Underdog Projects
In essence these are small clubs that have potential to be great. You could even say they are teams that want to go from being good to being great. This is the biggest step for any team to take like Brighton, Girona, Nottingham Forest or Lille.
These clubs have no desire to compete in the same way the elite clubs do, they want to offer something different. Look at the recruitment of Brighton and Brentford for example, Girona taking it to the Spanish giants or Forest with their style of play.
