Introduction
Everyone’s piling into Arsenal assets… but the best Sun Dream Team GW5 picks might actually come from Wolves.
Using the data from my model we promise to recommend the best players, interesting differentials and strategy tips like formation for the Game Week ahead.
Best Premium Picks for GW5
Let’s get the obvious ones out the way first, the top premium picks for the sun dream team GW5.
- Mo Salah, Florian Wirtz and Van Dijk – All three look good for different reasons. They are playing Everton at Anfield and then playing Southampton in the League cup, so the fixtures look favourable. I would probably lean more towards the defence with these fixtures.
- Cole Palmer – He is back! He has been missed, but he has managed to score in both of his first two games back. In terms of fixtures a tough game at United and Lincoln in the League Cup. The model says United win the fixture, but I see Palmer causing problems.
- Saliba, Gyokeres – This is an interesting one, Arsenal are at home and the model believes Arsenal are really strong compared to City. You can definitely see the likenesses between the sides, but Arsenal are so physical when compared. Huddersfield is the league game that follows.
The disclaimer with these moves is League cup games mean different things to different teams. There may be rotation and benching ahead. Overall, it’s a very precise week for The Sun Dream Team GW5.
Best Mid-Priced Picks for GW5
This is where we look closer at the supporting cast, the players that are solid, if not spectacular. Consistency is key with these players after GW4, they turn up every week and have good games hence their value in the market, Sun Dream GW5 is no exception to this. Let’s take a look:
Two players from Arsenal that really stand out to me are Declan Rice (£5m) and Gabriel (£5m). Both of these players are solid physical players that add value in set pieces. Rice is even better as he is involved in every element of play.
Szoboszlai is looking good this season and has hit a good patch of form. Could this be the start of his value run? Or is it a lucky couple of games? I would avoid Kerkez as it looks like Robertson could be taking his position back for the short term.
For the rest of the tipped teams we have Xavi Simons (£4.5m), Woltemade (£4m) and Tonali (£4.3m). Both Simons and Tonali are complete midfielders and will be well worth the effort as they contribute to every aspect of play. Woltemade on the other hand is a good striker to get behind as is more than just a goal scorer.

Best Cheap Picks for Sun Dream Team GW5
As we are still at the start of the season, well Sun Dream Team GW5, there are still a lot of economic players that are available and unchecked. I have had to change the model slightly in order to use the scores of each player against their value. So the top ten economic choices with winnable fixtures are:
- Ladislav Krejčí, Wolves, £2.5m
- Mateus Fernandes, West Ham, £3m
- Adrien Truffert, Bournemouth, £3.4m
- Yeremi Pino, Palace, £3.4m
- Omar Alderete, Sunderland, £2.6m
- Jackson Tchatchoua, Wolves, £2.2m
- Morgan Gibbs-White, Forest, £4.4m
- Ryan Gravenberch, Liverpool, £4m
- Chrisantas Uche, Palace, £3m
- Elliot Anderson, Forest, £3.9m
These players are players that we could buy at a low price and have good metrics. While some are more expensive than others they are the most economical and can’t be ignored. This will give you some ideas on who to bring in.
Best Captaincy Picks for GW5
This week is an easy one for me, Mo Salah. Shock!
He has two decent fixtures in the next week, has a big probability in playing in both games. As well as that he has this knack of scoring in every game, even in the last ten minutes.
Other captains are a little more wayward……..
Gyokeres at Arsenal, but the reservation is that he is playing a big team, will he score in a big game?
Sunderland have a couple of interesting candidates too. Number one being our bargain of the week in Alderete who could take a clean sheet and dangerous at set pieces. The second choice being Isidor the club hero who is on form, a fun change of player.
The other one I really like, but the data doesn’t really back up is either Kudus or Simon at Tottenham. I think Tottenham might run riot this weekend, but the model is saying a small win.
Sun Dream Team GW5 Fixtures to Target
So this week is a juggling act, we want Premier League which we can target, with teams/players who have a league cup game. This gives us maximum opportunities to score as many points as possible.
The best according to the model are:
- Liverpool beating Everton
- Arsenal beating City
- Fulham beating Brentford
- Sunderland beating Villa
Medium risk games are:
- Tottenham to beat Brighton
- Newcastle to beat Bournemouth
Liverpool and Arsenal are the strongest teams in the league and are playing at home so should register wins. They will be tight games for different reasons, but the model feels defences will win these games.
Fulham and Sunderland are also looking good according to the model. Fulham have a weak forward line, but their defence is particularly good when fully fit. Sunderland are the team upsetting the apple cart, beating Villa would put them even further up the table.
Players to Avoid in GW5
There are so many injuries in the Sun Dream Team GW5. Saka, Odegaard, Ben White just from Arsenal, lucky they bolstered their squad in the summer to cope.
Ekitike is a big risk this week, after seeing Isak line up during the mid week, it casts a lot of doubt over the minutes Ekitike will get. It’s looking like he could be an impact player, which is a risk in it’s self.
Sun Dream Team GW5 Differential Picks
Looking around this week the easy players to pick are the big teams at home like Arsenal and Liverpool. The players that are going to make the difference are players from different clubs away from these teams, or some of the unpopular picks in the big teams.
This week the 3 I am going with are:
Dilane Bakwa, Nottingham Forest, this is going to be fire when he settles. He has the potential to be a very special player, especially with Ange ball and the attack, attack, attack philosophy he brings.
Omar Alderete, Sunderland, has had a solid start to the season. I thought he would take time to settle, but he has slipped into this defence seamlessly. He is potential clean sheet in home games and is a threat at set pieces.
Ladislav Krejčí, Wolves, is our top pick in the bargain players and Wolves could have a good game on their hands here. There are a few top picks for Wolves, but Krejci takes it in the model.
Conclusion
The Sun Dream Team GW5 is going to be another interesting week, not easy in some respects. There are some interesting choices to be made across the your team and it could make the difference. Last week favoured the defence, so it will be interesting to see if the forwards have good week this week.
Obviously the main thing is focussing on the two fixture weeks, but there are some players that just need the one performance because their club will not focus on the cup. It’s a difficult balance, but have fun and enjoy the ride!
