We all love a budget star
We love spending our budgets on the biggest and best in Sun Dream Team, but sometimes you have to navigate the best budget players. They can be the difference makers and if can find efficient players in will make your life easier.
Also if you get a few budget players and their value goes up you can cash them in for help towards better players. The positives are endless.
What are budget players?
What we mean by budget players in The Sun Dream Team are players that could score high without the high price. This is where my PER (Player Efficiency Model) comes into action and using it’s analysis to pick out potential top players.
Every season there are some break out stars, look at Mbeumo, Robinson and Cunha last year. We need to uncover the next big thing, the next high performer and my model has put together a list of potential candidates to help us.
Budget Players list
Jaidon Anthony
Had a fantastic with Burnley last year and showing some real activity. Everything he does he wants to go forward and attack, this is great for Sun Dream Team points. Teams stay up because they score goals and attack, Anthony embodies this philosophy. He’ll stay up even if Burnley go down.
Alex Iwobi
Alex Iwobi had a great season last year, he showed what was promised years ago. He contributes with goals and assists, involved in all the attacking plays for Fulham. The problem is whether Fulham were a fluke last year or if they can build on the great work they did last year.
Yankuba Minteh
It’s fair to say Minteh arrived last year and put in a decent shift. Brighton have found yet another player who could be a star. From midfield he chips in with important goals and this season could see more. I’m looking forward to this season because we get to see Brighton on the next step of their journey.
Adrien Truffert
I love Ligue Un, and Truffert has just come off the back of a good season. It is no surprise someone has snapped him up and he will be useful as an attacking fullback giving us both defensive and attacking points potential.

Callum Hudson-Odoi
One of the most overlooked players at Forest. Hudson-Odoi played a role in Forest performing well last season with important goals, a few assists and contributions. The danger here is that a few players have been bought that could play his position.
Maxim De Cuyper
Now this guy has got me excited. I must have somehow copied some of Brighton’s recruitment models, because we are finding the same targets. Maxim is going to be a top player, and you can see that Brighton are evolving tactically and becoming more attacking. Points to be had here.
Jhon Arias
I like Jhon, I just don’t like Wolves chances this year, I think they are preparing for a slog. In Brazil he has performed very well and there is potential for him to do well here and take the Cunha sized hole that is left.
Ryan Gravenberch
Although he is suspended for the first game this season, we have seen Gravenberch grow up a lot under Slot. He is becoming their midfield general and an all rounder as well. The fact that they have not bought anyone with defensive attributes in midfield is credit to him.
Pedro Neto
The understated member of the Chelsea midfield had a wonderful Club World Cup. I think Chelsea are starting come of age with the midfield trio of Palmer, Enzo and Caicedo, Neto wants to be part of that.
Estevao
Cue the excitement! Estevao is going to be a star in the future, you can see it already. Will this be his break out season? I’m not sure, but I think we are going to see some real touches of magic and Chelsea like to rotate players in.
Conclusion
Now I am not recommending all of these players in your team, but they are definitely for consideration if you find yourself at loss in a position and have a lack of budget.
Effectively your team will have the core of your team with players like Haaland, Wirtz, Salah, Palmer etc and then you could build around them with the budget you have. You want your big hitters, but these guys could be your differential.
Good luck with the season guys! Stay tuned for my weekly updates.
