GW2 Telegraph Fantasy Football Tips 25/26

Let’s restock and go again

So we are already through GW1, are you ready for more? This page is dedicated to Telegraph Fantasy Football Tips for GW2. We have got a long way to go and so far I’m here for the ride.

Did we get duds? Have we found a budget superstar already? Will West Ham stay up? Read on to find out more.

Here we are, what a buzz GW1 was, I literally cannot wait for the next game and when the cups kick off. I think some teams have had a bit of a wake up call in the last 72 hours and are going to need to make some changes.

We have a long time to go, but we need to start planning ahead in order to organise ourselves. This means that we will save transfers each week, not get stuck on certain weeks and maximise our points.

GW1 Results

So we have had a good week, my top team “You shall not pass………but we will” has managed to wiggle into the top 8k on 59 points. You can see the team before, but this team was picked out by my model through using possession metrics. I didn’t think it would do much as it was based on possession, but here we are.

The good news is everyone played and everyone scored a point at least. I’m a little disappointed by the double Liverpool defence not paying off, but I think it indicates something. I think it shows Liverpool have no regard for defence and they know about the correlation between goals and points. Also Gravenberch is not there as the balance in midfield, he is the anchor like Caicedo for Chelsea.

There is room for improvement in midfield, but most will come good. Fernandes always has a good season, Reijnders looks good already and Caicedo as solid as always. I think we could look at introducing another striker to help rack up the points and drop a midfielder.

Telegraph Fantasy Football Tips GW2 Fixtures

Let’s have a good look at the GW2 fixtures and see which ones look tasty to us.

The Telegraph Fantasy Football tips fixtures list GW2

Firstly, Arsenal and Bournemouth have been picked out by the model as the strongest two fixtures. Arsenal have been rated as high probability for goals and clean sheet, while Bournemouth is high on the win and goals.

The mid card for the model is Liverpool and Chelsea. Both are away and both are up against a form of rival, Chelsea at West Ham and Liverpool at Newcastle. I can’t see West Ham posing a credible threat to Chelsea, but they do turn up in these games sometimes. Liverpool at Newcastle though has some bad blood, and I wouldn’t risk a Liverpool defence in what looks like a high scoring game.

Then it’s the differential games. Forest, Man City and Sunderland are looking good for the next fixture and the fixture after so whoever you put in will be around for at least two fixtures.

Forest have some useful players and although I think they may struggle with Europe when that starts they have good fixtures now. I think Man City are going to be a good bet over the next couple of games, especially on the goals front.

Sunderland are the risk, they played well last game, they have Burnley next who are weak and then Brentford. So they will ride the waves for the next couple of weeks.

Telegraph Fantasy Football Tips Transfers

Transfers In

So this is where Telegraph Fantasy Football tips sites differ, our recommendations on who to buy.

Firstly the Arsenal defence against Leeds. If there is one thing a strong favourite offers is a higher chance of keeping a clean sheet. The usual suspects are in there, but Raya (£4.4m), Saliba (£4.6m) and White (£4.5m).

The Bournemouth contingent I can see doing well is Truffert (£2.3m), Tavernier (£2.8m) and the obvious Semenyo (£3.1m). Truffert contributes to both the defence and the attack, so on a good day could pick up a clean sheet and an assist. Tavernier and Semenyo are the attacking threats in the team, and where I see the goals coming from.

Now for the fun players, the ones that the model has picked out are Anderson (£3m), Hume (£2.5m), Reijnders (£3.5m), and Sadiki (£2.6m). These guys are all good alternatives and will start to count in the league cup in Sunderland’s case.

Transfers Out

Get rid of any West Ham players, Wolves look like they could be taking another beating. Some teams are needing to have a look at themselves at the moment, because they will get left behind. It’s early days anyway and the data is sparse as they say.

I would not load up on Arsenal players either, they have Liverpool in GW3 at Anfield and the model fancies a strong Liverpool win. While it is only a prediction we are using data driven decisions to pick our team.

The other team to consider is to Bournemouth, in GW3 they are away to Spurs which could be a high scoring game. Basically, no problem having forwards or midfielders, but Bournemouth defenders could be quite costly in points.

Conclusion

GW2 is going to be instrumental in pushing your team forward and creating your fundamental team. You will find a core team throughout the season and change the components around it. The main thing is to hang on to your top performers as long as you can and ride it.

It’s great to see new names being considered each week and the fixtures help change that up every week. Hopefully we see a really competitive league this year both at the top and the bottom.

I hope out Telegraph Fantasy Football tips are helping you in winning your fantasy football leagues.
