Hunting in a pack
Wolves FC have been an interesting team over the years. They were famed with their style of football with a Portuguese influx, now things have changed on FM24.

The project at Wolves FC was going so well a few years ago. They had a fantastic footballing culture with the introduction of a number of great Portuguese players. Unfortunately, some of those players moved on and they were replaced by an inferior product. As a result that culture was lost and Wolves have been trying to find themselves again.
In this guide we are going to:
- Look at the end of season league performance and individual performances.
- We will look at the tactics which have been used.
- Where the team will go next.
Read on to see how formed a new footballing culture at Wolves FC in the Premier League on FM24!
Aston Villa results on FM24
In this section we look at the team performance as a whole. We use this data to measure how the team have performed against the supporter and board objectives on Wolves FC on FM24. Team stats are the tip of the ice berg, they can be indicators where things are going wrong.
We have been as midtable as midtable can be with 16 wins and 16 losses. Our goal scoring on the other hand indicates that we are potentially better than that. We scored 79 goals, which is the third highest in the league and our goal difference is far superior to our position.
In terms of conceding goals we roughly where we are meant to be, but we are not troubling the teams above. This is something to improvement to look into in the data, the main thing is that we concede from through balls too often.
A couple of ways to combat this are to create a more compact defensive unit and stop the pass, forcing the opposition out to the wing. Or alternatively we could press earlier and quicker on the positions that provide the through balls.
Individual Performances
In this section we look at the performances of each of the players in the Wolves FC on FM24. This is where we find the heroes and villains of the piece. This can be a good time to look at the performance of players in certain units and positions. If there is problem at the team level, then there will be a problem at player level.
So the obvious thing to notice is that we have a 5 high performers in the team. It is of no surprise at all that it is made up of strikers and midfielders. The odd one out is Kilman who has been a fantastic defender this season. I am a bit disappointed that no one else has stepped up in the team.
Looking at the Xg data we have had some stand out performances. Pedro Neto, Joao Gomes, Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan have all out done their expected goals. Kalajdzic, who has been our top striker has room for improvement on his goals scored.
The passing completion data is slightly wayward in the team, unfortunately it’s the midfielders and strikers that are letting the side down. This is probably because we are trying too many passes in dangerous areas. We need player with a great first touch, off the ball and anticipation.
Aston Villa tactics on FM24
This is where we discuss the tactics we have used with Wolves FC in our first season on FM24. We normally use the tactic that we built on the day one series and then develop it further. Additionally, some roles may change in the tactic to serve better performing KPIs.
This tactic is built around popping through balls through to the forward. We started with Hee-Chan up front at first, but Kalajdzic performed better when he stepped up. Cunha is a magician that took a while to settle, but Neto is something else with goals and assists.
The midfield needs to be a bit more solid, I am thinking that we could change the BBM out for a CM in support role. The AMR/AML and AMC have been really creative in the team, the winger role on the right has been more productive. This could prompt us to put two wingers on and forget the overload.
Defensively we are joke among to the top clubs. Because of the 29 through balls we have conceded we need to do something about them. The main thing is to create a compact team in the middle of the pitch and force them out wide. To make this work though, we need to have a deep line with defenders that will win the ball in the air.
Conclusion
Wolves FC have been a very good team in the first season on FM24. The attacking 4 have been a pleasure to manage and provide a lot of entertainment. The defence needs to be worked with, potentially you could build from the back and create a solid backline.
The strength of the team is the goal scoring ability in the front end. I didn’t realise that the strikers would score as many as they did and I had my reservations about the midfield. The midfield create fantastic opportunities and if there was a better forward the it could be even more effective.
The weakness of the team is the defence, you can see it is a one dimensional defensive system. You either need to lean into the deep block they have built or reinvest and push the club in a new direction.
The opportunity is to put a new stamp on this team and create a successful brand of football. Unfortunately there has been too much change and the club has lost it’s way a bit.
The threat of the team is like most clubs outside the top six is selling your best players and reinvesting. If you become a selling club in is very hard to break the cycle, do not let your best players go. Perform to keep them on board.
