Time to rebuild the future of Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur have had a rough couple of seasons and are going through a rebuild currently. After missing out on Europe they are want to make up for it.
Welcome to the next episode of the managing Tottenham in the first season series on FM24. This is part two of the guide so far and the results of the season. The previous guides you can find here:
As you can see Tottenham start as a top half team without Europe. This is a bit of a slide for Tottenham Hotspur who have always been around the top and qualifying for Europe. This straight away indicates the club needs a rebuild as they are technically in regression. They have the squad and resources, let’s see what we can do with them!
In this guide we are going to:
- Look at the end of season league performance and individual performances.
- We will look at the tactics which have been used.
- Where the team will go next.
Read on to see how we took Tottenham Hotspur into the future on FM24!
Tottenham Hotspur results
As you are probably familiar with, in this section we spoke about the successes and failures of the team. This is general data, but it gives us a measure of how the team are performing when compared to their objectives. With the league table we can judge our form and highlight any problems with goals.
Looking at the league we can see that we have achieved what the board requested, but I can help feeling a bit disappointed. We were so close to reaching Champs League qualification and were let down by some silly results. Overall it was an improvement on the previous season, and we need to be improving in some way each year.
The target for next season is to get into the Champions league spots and perform well in Europa. Man City blew the league away with 92 points, and we need to somehow get closer to that. In terms of my targeted win rate, I would normally be looking for for between 70-75%. We have missed out by 2 points, if we conceded ten less is would have generated around 2.6 extra wins. If we scored 10 more goals if would have led to 2.3 extra wins.
What all this means is that we need to focus on both the attack and defence in order to push up the table. I would advise to focus on one or the other in the next season and perfect it. Additionally we do not want to change the personnel too much as it takes a while to adapt, we need results now.
Individual Performance
In this section we speak about the individual performances of the squad. This gives us a good overview of how the team works and what players are seen as strengths and weaknesses. This is important data as we can zero in on poor performers and decide how to deal with it. We obviously can use this data to buy and sell too.
There were two major problems this season that were uncontrollable. Firstly the injuries were insane, Maddison was out for 7 months and Vicario was inured a number of times. Secondly, our players were harassed by Saudi clubs and actually managed to upset a few of them.
With the injuries there is no direct action, we just need to make sure the staff are good and we are resting players. With the Saudi clubs I gave in with a couple of players like Lo Celso and Bissouma.
So looking at the stats you can see that our best player was Vitinha who we bought in January. I bought a striker as we create a lot, but our strikers can be ineffective, Vitinha is so lethal as you can see.
Our other big signing was Carlos Soler from PSG. Soler was amazing from the word go, he can play in AMC or MC and his stats look impressive so far. Well worth bring that class in to get a better position.
Tottenham Hotspur Tactics
In this section we discuss the tactics that we have used this season and how it ties into the player performances. We use the tactic that we build with the day one series and discuss any changes so far. The most important thing here, is that the evolves with the team.
Looking at the tactic, you can see that we have stayed faithful to the 4222. This tactic is one of the most entertaining tactics that I have used and it has proved to effective, with the League Cup win. Looking forward to stomping teams in Europe with tactic.
I enjoy having two strikers up front, and with Son, Richarlison and Vitinha it can be crazy. With the addition of Vitinha we look so much more dangerous. The midfield have been really creative and Soler has done nothing, but to further that. Kulusevski has been a constant source of creativity, we need to supply these forwards.
The full backs have been pushing forward and supplying the front two as well. Pedro Porro has been brilliant and we could do with a left wingback that is as good as him.
Conclusion
Our first season with Tottenham Hotspur has been an interesting one. We have achieved the targets that were set before us, but I can’t help thinking we could do better. Injuries, small squad and constant transfer talk were distractions, so we need to sort the team out.
The strength of this team this season was the midfield, the creativity is amazing and any quality striker will feed off of that. The weakness of the team is the small size of starters, so injuries and suspensions have a large effect.
The opportunity for this team is that the team is going through a rebuild on FM24. This means you can take this team and build it into the future in the way you see the success. The threat in this team is the disruption. I have never had a team that had a much transfer attention as Tottenham.
I hope you enjoyed this guide, now go and start your journey with Tottenham Hotspurs on FM24. Please comment any feedback below.
