The Sun Dream Team GW8 Tips (25/26)

Introduction

We are back! Another international break over and done with, so back to business with the Sun Dream Team GW8. Cue the excitement!

GW7 was full of drama — surprise clean sheets, underperforming premiums, and a few bargain heroes. As we head into GW8, it’s time to regroup and find those edge picks that separate you from the pack.

Best Premium Picks for Sun Dream Team GW8

Right so we are going to do this a bit different going forward, because we have a new system. Also Haaland is a fantastic player, one of the best ever, but I want some variety for Sun Dream Team GW8 and onwards.

What I am going to do going forward is comment on the top 5 highest value players each week. This is what I call the premium picks, and they will change from time to time.

Haaland (Man City) – Here he is, the obvious choice, the talisman. He’s up against Everton this weekend and he is on form. I don’t think even Mourinho’s peak defence could keep this guy out at the moment. Easy choice.

Salah (Liverpool) – Great player as we all know, contributes with goals and assists. He has been quieter than previous seasons, which is no real surprise as they have been top level seasons. This week Liverpool are home to United which makes him a good choice.

Saka (Arsenal) – Away to Fulham is going to be a tough game, especially with the Fulham back line. Saka is a vital cog in the Arsenal attack and if he can rediscover his form from the start of last season he’ll be great. Currently getting back into the fray.

Isak (Liverpool) – Not really sure on this one at the moment. I don’t think he is totally fit at the moment, he doesn’t have that sharpness yet. They are at home and against a rival in United, could this be the game. The data is not recommending him.

Fernandes (Man United) – Another premium pick who doesn’t seem himself at the moment. He used to be my go-to midfielder with his penalties, goals and assists. Currently I would avoid as United are away to Liverpool, this could get messy.

Mid-Priced Value Picks for GW8

Eze (Arsenal) – Good opportunity for him as Odegaard is injured and he will get a chance to prove who he is. Just look at last year’s stats while at Palace, the world is his oyster, he just needs a run of games. Has both Europe and Domestic games this week.

Timber (Arsenal) – Best defender in the league currently, and been very quiet with it. The Arsenal defence is solid and Timber not only contributes to defence but also going forward. Again in Europe and Domestic this week so could be a big points scorer.

Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea) – With Palmer out I feel Enzo has stepped up. He was already trending upwards with his ability

Neco Williams (Forest) – Strong in the tackle and strong in the creating going forward makes Neco a valuable asset. Forest are going through a rough time at the moment, but hopefully will sort themselves out.

Morgan Gibbs-White (Forest) – Tough fixture against Chelsea this weekend, but he was a top creator last season and putting the activity in this season too. He is in Europe and Domestic this week and hopefully Ange’s attacking nature helps him.

Mitchell (Crystal Palace) – Another full back that has both European and Domestic football, plus he is great in defensive metrics and contributes to attacking phases of the game.

Bowen (West Ham) – Now Bowen has always been West Ham’s best player, but I think under Nuno you could start seeing a complete player. The footballers at West Ham suit Nuno’s style and this could be a match made in heaven. No European football though.

Best Cheap Picks for GW8

Alderete (Sunderland) – Big game this weekend against Wolves. Proves to be a threat at set pieces, potential clean sheet and maybe even tackles to boost the points. Again no European football.

Iwobi (Fulham) – At home against Arsenal, but Fulham have a strong defence and not much in terms of attack. This means that the attacks tend to go through Iwobi, giving him more opportunities to create and score.

Pino (Palace) – Has both European and Domestic fixtures, but he is creating and adapting to the league. Palace are a team on form too and he is only adding to their value.

Bakwa (Forest) – I’m will keep promoting this guy, he was fantastic in France last season and Ange normally plays attacking football. Combine these factors with the European and Domestic features and Bakwa is an appealling player.

Fixtures to Target in GW8

This is an unusual week where a number of the bottom 6 teams are playing each. This means that the rest of the league will be made up of more difficult fixtures. Anyway we have found a number of fixtures to target for The Sun Dream Team GW8.

  • Man City v Everton – looks like a big win could be on the cards here for City with the number of chances they create at home and Haaland on great form.
  • Spurs v Aston Villa – This will be a good game, and the model thinks Spurs will come away with the win. Looking at some of the results so far this season, Spurs winning 1-0 is a comfortable prediction.
  • Liverpool v Man United – What a game this could be! Could this be the game for Isak and Wirtz?! Either way the model is predicting a high scoring game with Liverpool winning.
  • West Ham v Brentford – This is the start of the run, the start of the Nuno era. The model predicts West Ham to come away with a narrow win.

Differential Picks (Low Ownership Gems)

These are a few players that have good metrics in the model, but have an ownership of <= 0.1. There are some gems to be found it would appear.

Bakwa – He plays regularly for Nottingham Forest, he has top creative metrics previously in France and Ange plays an attacking system. It’s only a matter of time until Bakwa pops off.

Mateus Fernandes – One of two West Ham players that can benefit from the Nuno appointment. Fernandes was good last year for Southampton and Nuno needs to have his new Morgan Gibbs-White role.

Mavropanos – Remember how good Murillo and Milenkovic were last year for Nuno? Well it looks like Mavropanos could be fitting that role this year. Look out for the clean sheets and the tackles, maybe even a goal or two.

Chemsdine Talbi – Impressive season so far, and he has the creative metrics going in the right direction. Sunderland are on form at the moment and this is an important match against Wolves. No Europe for Sunderland…….yet.

Sun Dream Team GW8 Captain Picks

The obvious choice is Haaland yet again this week. He is in great form and doesn’t look like stopping. He is at home against Everton and City create so many chances.

The other choice I really like is Tyrick Mitchell. He is at home in a defence that is solid so a good chance for a clean sheet, as well as this he is one of the highest tacklers for bonus points. Another important factor is that he contributes in attack, so there are a number of options for Sun Dream Team GW8.

FAQs – Sun Dream Team GW8

It’s so good to be back after the international break! I’m excited about football again this week.

So this week is going to interesting the way it plays out both at the top and bottom of the league. The Sun Dream Team GW8 has a number of the bottom team playing each other and the top of table have games of varying difficulty, Liverpool v Man United being the pick.
