Chelsea have hit many headlines off the field. They have been purchased, after their Russian owner had his assets frozen. This is a new era, let’s rebuild!
- Chelsea have had a lot of drama in the last few years with their off field headlines like with their owner.
- They have gone through a rebuild of young players to build for the future and get back on top.
So for this rebuild guide we are using Chelsea FC on FM24. Chelsea have had a very successful period in the modern era of the Premier League, but of late have struggled with off field troubles. Their owner had his assets frozen and he sold the club. The new owner has come in and decided to change the club. This means we are in a transition period.
The first thing that Chelsea need to do is get a team out of the pitch that can perform. While they have a lot of great youngsters hanging around the first team, they need a bit of direction with older performing players. To point out the obvious Chelsea need to challenge for the title.
Chelsea Objectives
So with creating any form of culture we need to start somewhere. With this rebuild of Chelsea FC on FM24 we need to understand the board and supporter objectives. To create our culture we need to follow the objectives of the board and the fans, or it may cause our demise.
Let’s have a look at the board objectives to start with. I actually really like these objectives as it doesn’t hamper the team. The need is to sign players under 23 for the future, so scouts with high judging of potential are important.
We can’t stop there though, we need to develop those players. We need to recruit the best coaches who work with youngsters and head of youth development.
The next objective is to sign high reputation players, I mean who doesn’t want to sign top players? The way to do this is to add a filter on your player search of player reputation. Sort them so the largest reputations are near the top and see who you want to buy.
Signing high reputation players will help you with increasing commercial revenue and growing the club’s reputation. This show the synergy in the club’s philosophy.
The fans are the ones who are interested in the style of football. They want attacking and entertaining football, so that means attacking football with a high tempo, which once again means Gegenpress football.
Other than the style of football they want the same as the board and to beat the rivals, which is no real surprise.
Chelsea first 11
The next step of our rebuild of Chelsea FC on FM24 is to find out who our key players are. The way in which we do this is through the assistant reports. The league average is 2.5 stars, but we are going to push that standard. Any player that is 3 stars will be a squad player, anyone less will be going. The players over 3 stars will be our key players.
Moving straight on to the key players at Chelsea, we can see that we have a decent sized group. We have back four from the key players alone, this shows how strong the defence is. We also have the making of a 4231 with the midfielders in the key players. Another observation is that the majority of key players are under 30.
Looking at the squad players, it looks as though we have an abundance of good DCs. Due to the wingers at our disposal though, I am not interesting in playing a 532. Again we can see that we have a lot of young players that have good potential. A major problem we have is a lack of a natural striker, ironically Lukaku is out on loan.
Chelsea Tactics
It’s time to put all our assumptions together! With this Chelsea FC rebuild you have a clear set of objectives and a small, but talented squad available. The tactic is going to be our character on the field from the culture we create off it.
Let’s start with how we will score goals, straight away it is down to our two inside forwards and attacking MC to crash opposition defence. The pressing forward is there to support by harassing the opposition defence and chasing down loose balls and laying it off to our other forwards. When we attack we aiming to limit the touches on the ball by the opposition defence.
The defence is pushed up high in order to support the attack and so we are not too far apart. The wingbacks are in the usual support role where they will take up the space the inside forwards vacate. This will apply more pressure on the opposition and lead to them firing balls over the top. This is where we need our quicker defenders and sweeper keeper to mop up the ball.

The rebuild of Chelsea FC on FM24 is going to be a challenge. The good news is that there is not much expectation of the club, only aiming for the Europa qualification. This gives you the perfect opportunity to play the first season to understand your team and identify the strengths and weaknesses.
The strength of this team is that they have a complete back four of key players available. This is going to be the rock of the team and as a result gives you something to build from. The weakness is the lack of strikers in the team, there aren’t any natural strikers in the team. In the first season you will be looking to Nkunku and Jackson who are wingers really.
The opportunity for this team is the relatively young age of the squad. This means that we can keep hold of the best players in the squad for a long time. The threat to the squad is the financial side of the club, you need to reach your objectives to keep the lights on. If you create a selling club from failed youth that will be an income stream on it’s own.
