The Kings of Europe
Real Madrid are the most successful team in Europe, fact. While being the strongest and most successful team in FM24 and La Liga, it brings it’s own challenges.
Welcome back to our guide to the La Liga teams. In these short guides we will manage every team in the Spanish league and give our opinion on how to set up the team. The main problem for any new manager is how do I get the best out of this team?
Real Madrid are going to be one of the strongest teams I have ever managed, they have won more Champions Leagues than I can count. They have the history, the Galactico era and numerous huge moments in history. Teams like this can be easier to manage as we know more about them. Let’s see what we can do.
In our guide, you’ll find everything you need to know to get started with Real Madrid, including:
- What objectives Real Madrid have and why they are important.
- The different types of players and how they work in the squad.
- Tips, tactics, and best practices to succeed with Real Madrid.
Let’s push on and see how we can make Real Madrid even better!
Real Madrid objectives
Our first point of call is to look into the board and supporter objectives on FM24. These differ from team to team, sometimes they are more restrictive and others are more autonomous. These objectives will give you direction on how to manage your team.
Looking at the board’s objective you can clearly see that they have a vision. They see the future as a team of wonderkids if you read between the lines. The main objectives is to buy young and not to buy any players over 30 years old. The other objectives point towards buying high reputation players and players that increase the commercial revenue of the club.
In terms of style, they want attacking football, which means that they want tiki taka or gegenpress football. This is fairly standard, and suits the way that we want to play as title challengers.
When looking at the supporter objectives we can see their is a clear culture and style that they expect. They want to play attacking with direct football, which seems like a contradiction. This calls for a specialist tactic, so we will need to use a clean slate.
As expected the fans want big name players, this is where the fun begins and we love to see saves with as many big names as possible. While Real Madrid is an easy challenge, I love rebuilding the Galacticos in the modern game.
Other than these points the fans expect success, they want to remain the most famous team in Spain.
Real Madrid First 11
So our next step is to sort out the team, to find our first team and what strengths we have. Having players is one thing, but we want the right players on the bus and build around them. We sort the players by the assistant reports as we only have a small amount of data at this point.
The way in which we sort them is by current ability stars. Anyone above 3 stars is a key player, anyone 3 stars is a squad player and anyone under the 3 stars is going. The only exception to players under 3 stars is that they have high potential.
Look at what we have here! This is the best key player list I have seen on FM24. Real Madrid really do have the best players in the world according to the star ratings. The only problem is that we have 4 centre midfielders, we are going to find out which ones play naturally in other positions.
So looking at the squad, it is one of the smallest squads I have seen. This highlights just how competitive places are going to be in this team. Looking at the positions available it looks like we may have a custom formation on our hands. The biggest problem so far is that we do not have a recognised striker.
Real Madrid Tactics
So this is where we put it all together, all the ideas, all the assumptions. Then the magic begins and we put our theories to the test.
As with all of our guides, I’m going to start with how we score our goals with Real Madrid on FM24. Without a recognised striker you would have thought that it would be a struggle to score goals. I took a leaf out of Spain’s national team when they were playing without a striker.
Instead of having a forward drop back we are now playing the opposite. We are now using a midfielder to push forward as a striker. Along with this we have two inside forwards that will come inside and help the shadow striker. The wingbacks will push forward to take up the positions vacated by the wingers. We can do this as we have a DM sitting back to cover.
In terms of markers, the defence are going to have to come forward in order to mark our attackers. Hopefully we can get them to push so far up that we can play in behind and set the inside forwards free.
Defensively we have the tripod in midfield to flood any teams thinking of playing through the middle, we are trying to force them into our midfield trap. As well as this you can see that all of the aspects of a 442 diamond in the formation and this gives us a solid spine to the team.
Get started with Real Madrid today
While Real Madrid are the best team on FM24, they come with their own challenges. As they are a strong team they come with some very unique players and we need to be playing them all. I hope you have as much fun as I have setting them up from day one.
The strength of this team are all the key players, especially the forward line. They are young, very pacey and have talent in abundance. It’s not even funny how good the three of them are up front. The weakness on the other hand is that there is no recognised striker, a problem for the ages in Spain. This would take some reinvest and buy one of the most reputable forwards in the world.
The opportunity for Real Madrid is with the first team being nearly complete, focus on buying the best youngsters in the world and build the next era team. The threat of REal Madrid is that they do not resonate with any failure. If you don’t bring the success they want then you will find yourself out the door.
