Crystal Palace Objectives

So before we start playing with any team, we need a plan. Our plan needs action points, and our action points come from the supporter and club objectives. In real life, Palace have some of the best fans, passionate and loud. Let’s see what they expect on FM24.

As we can see, even the fans are fed up of being a mid table team. They want to get into the top half and push for more. Other than that the objectives are pretty straight forward, develop the youth players and beat the rivals. Brighton are in the same division so you be facing them, but Millwall are in the division below.

Crystal Palace Supporter Objectives

Looking at the board objectives you can see that Crystal Palace are a selling club. They haven’t got the riches that other clubs have, so it means they have to forge an income from somewhere else. Palace have always enjoyed buying out of favour players and selling them on for a profit.

Crystal Palace Board Objectives

The board and the supporters agree, developing the youth is the way forward. This means that the recruitment needs to be focussed on the potential ability stars. What this means is that we need set up a scouting team that is great at judging potential. Once the players are signed, we need coaches that are great at working with youngsters.

The break even in the transfer market just shows that they want constant positive change in the team and that they do not want the team to become stale. These are fantastic objectives to follow and looks like an interesting team to start with.

Crystal Palace first 11

Let’s look at the first team and judge them by their current ability stars. Straight away I like what I see, we have a number of key players and they play in different positions, so this means that half our team has picked itself. A lot of them play through the spine of the team too which is great for a solid defence. From this little sample it looks like a 4231 DM is the shaping up.

Crystal Palace Key players

Moving onto the squad, we have the players to play a 4231 DM. I’m not impressed with any of the strikers and the is a lack of potential in this team. I’m tempted to play an asymmetrical team as Olise is amazing in AMR from his stats, but Schlupp is just not a winger. The first thing in the transfer market will be wide players.

Crystal Palace Squad

This feels like a small squad, with limited ability, reinvestment is needed. There is a lot of average players outside the key players, and I’m happy to replace average players as per the objectives. Additionally, there is quite defensive feel to this team, we need to bring some spark to this team.

Crystal Palace Tactics

Right, so after thinking about the observations above, below is the team I have gone with. I think Eze and Olise bring a stronger goal threat than the strikers in the team, hence the attacking roles through the middle. Edouard seems like the best of a bad bunch and will play a supporting role pulling the defence out of position.

Crystal Palace Formation

You maybe wondering why the hell have I done that with my wingers?! Well, Olise is far too good to pull back and if we did, we would lose some of our attack mindedness. Schlupp on the other hand is a best at playing LM, not on the wing. We need to focus on bringing in another winger for the left side.

The DMs are really good and solid, they will shield our roaming full backs that will be pushing up the wings. Centrally nothing is beating us and if they go wide and lob balls in then we have the defence to stop that. A new GK is on the list too, they are average keepers, but I think we need a heavy shot stopper.

Get started with Crystal Palace today

Crystal Palace look like an interesting prospect to play with. There is definitely a good opportunity with this team to push on and get into Europe. Eze looks like a great prospect with Olise in the attacking positions.

The main strength of this team is the defence. The defence is great, solid and organised with a good team ethic. The weakness of the team is something that we are well aware of in real life, the forwards. You could play two strikers in this team to try and make more goals, but I think you then wasting the talent in midfield.

The opportunity for this team, is real change. Take the strength of this team in defence, build from the front and complete the balanced team. At the moment, while it is a strength, I think the team is too defence focussed. The threat in this team is without focussing on the attacking side, the team will sink. While stopping a goal is more valuable than scoring one, you still need to score to win.
