Blackburn Rovers objectives
Our first step, as with any team that we start managing on FM24, is to look at the board and supporter objectives of the club. The FM24 Blackburn Rovers objectives will give us direction and what identity the board are expecting.
Looking at the board objectives we can see that while basic they are looking to the future. They are interested in building the youth team up to first team level so this club can progress and remain competitive.
The way we will achieve this is investing in the training and youth facilities to the development of our youngsters. The next move is to create mentor groups with the right players who have successful careers and positive personality types. We will need to replace all the coaches with coaches that have high working with youngsters and motivating skills.
To support our vision we need to change the scouts to ones that are great at recognising future potential. This all leads to the main man, we need a top head of youth development to engineer this behind the scenes.
When we combine this with the attacking style they want, then we are looking at a successful future indeed.
The supporters have actually disappointed me here, they do not have any recognisable objectives. Hopefully this will change in the future.
Blackburn Rovers First 11
So our next step is to outline who our keys players are. One of the problems that new mangers have is that they do not know who their first team are. We first sort the squad by using the assistant reports.
Any player over 3 stars is a key player, 3 star players are squad players and anyone under 3 stars is on the way out. The only is exception is high potential players, with under 3 stars, they will be loaned or introduced to the first team.
So after sorting the FM24 Blackburn Rovers squad the key players we are left with are interesting. As we can see we have a solid core in midfield and leading to the defence. We also have a creative AML and more width with the DR. We can already see a 451, 433 or 4231 starting to form. The next step is to play these players to their strengths.
Now this is what I like to see! A huge squad to give us depth and quality options. We have 2 strikers, 5 midfielders, 5 defenders and 2 goalkeepers to play with. Looking at the proportions we can only realistically play with one striker, 5 midfielders and 4 at the back. The other observation is that we have a lot of central midfielders.
Blackburn Rovers Tactics
Let’s put it all together and bring to life our ideas! So with Blackburn Rovers on FM24 we have a number of tactical options, while we have an abundance of central midfielders that gives plenty of passing options due to how central they will be. The way you score through the centre is by passing it through, if you go wide you want direct balls out to wingers.
So how are we scoring goals? Well I did say earlier that we would probably only use one striker, due to the lack of depth. I changed my mind as none of the strikers were particularly great on their own and we had so many midfielders in centre midfield. It just seemed overkill in the centre of the park, where we could add another striker to help score.
This tactic is based around passing the ball in small tight patterns to escalate it through the middle. This will benefit the faster forwards as we will play through balls behind the defensive line. We have the wing backs to shuttle up and down the flanks in order to add the additional options and defending high up the pitch.
Defensively we are looking to press as quickly as possible to get the ball back. The deep lying playmaker has a defensive role to hold his position and the ball winner will help win the ball back. We are playing a high line to pin the opposition back in their half and retain possession. Potentially we are aiming for death by possession.

Managing Blackburn Rovers on FM24 is a fantastic opportunity to recreate some history for the club. You could right the wrongs and take them back to the top of the league recreating 1995. This could be a game that you get your teeth stuck into!
The strength of the team is the overwhelming number of centre midfield options that are available. This gives you so many variations for central midfield whether you want to work for possession or flooded the midfield defensively. The weakness of the team is the lack of depth in the striker department, I recommend in investing in striker that fits your style.
The opportunity with this team is to create a youth culture at the club. The board are keen on this and it will benefit the club as a whole. They will produce good quality players that go into the first team squad or are sold at a profit. The threat of this team is that squad needs to be refined into an identity, currently it is just squad of players with certain positions oversubscribed.
