Monza is a team that is on an upward trajectory. Every year they have taken a positive step and last season they pushed to 12th in their first year.

Team Objectives
This is where we get started on our journey with Monza on FM24. We always start by looking at what objectives the board and supporters have. This gives us an idea of where the club wants to get to and what their culture and identity consist of.
So starting off with the board objectives we can see there is a lack of them. This is good for a manager that has his own brand of football that he wants to play.
The first objective is to sign high reputation players, which is pretty straight forward, buy players with the highest reputation. This is can achieved by adding the reputation filter on your player search. If we can buy these players from inside Italy as well, this will get you bonus points from the board.
When combined with breaking even in the transfer market, it means that any profit needs to reinvested in the first team with better and better players. This plays in with the old Crystal Palace transfer policy of buying players from bigger clubs who are unhappy or defective, get a good season out of them and sell them at a profit.
The fans are a happy bunch, they want to see us beat any rivals that we come across and establish ourselves as a Serie A team. This should be the aim of any club that comes up, they have just had a fantastic season in their debut campaign.
The only difference is the fans want to see Italian players through the door. This will make your transfer targets very narrow, but could be used in conjunction with a national challenge.
Monza first 11
So this is where we sort our Monza squad on FM24. We will use the assistant reports in order to sort the team into three categories, key, squad or other players. The key players will help us create a formation or structure and the squad players fill the gaps. The other players will be going at some point.
So straight away the best formation that springs to mind is a 4411 formation. We have the midfielder for it, and we want to include the AMC. Another formation that we could look at is the 352 using the AMC behind the forwards.
The other good news is that we have sweeper keeper, meaning we could potentially play a higher line. This will be dependent on the other defenders we have at our disposal.
Looking at the squad we can only afford to play one striker just because of the depth. We also have a number of DCs, some of which could be wide centre backs meaning will could play a 343 Conte style. As long as the full backs can play wingbacks then we could make it work.
There are plenty of options, but the majority of Championship winning teams use a four man back line.
Monza Tactics
So this is where the magic happens for Monza on FM24. What we do here is use everything that we have spoke about above and create tactic with it.
So how do we score goals? Columbo is going to be our focal point, this is going to be 1990’s Man Utd or 2016 Leicester City. We will play direct passes to the wings and then get the ball into the centre, the danger zone. One successful cross is just as effective as ten short passes, so our plan is to get as many crosses into the box as possible.
The centre midfield is where we will make it hard for other teams to play through us. Once the ball is intercepted or tackled, then the attack starts by pushing the ball out wide. We have wingbacks at the moment, but if we find that they are leaving big gaps we will revert them to full backs.
The AMC is there to link the play between midfield and the forwards, getting between the lines of the opposition. He also provides a different out if we are getting beaten for pace on the wings. It’s an important role and he helps to give options or even to act as a red herring.

Monza on FM24 are a great team to manage due to the success they have had over the last few years. They have gone from strength to strength and this is your chance to take them even further. There is a good solid foundation at the club, this is good for progressing up the league.
The strength of the club is in the core of the team. For a newly promoted team in the last couple of years, this team could not be stronger. The focus now would be to continue this success and build the wide positions. The weakness of the team is the defence, it needs some attention to build back stronger.
The opportunity for the club is to sell the older players who are reaching top market value and then reinvest in the younger high potential talent and push from the bottom. The threat to the team is that this is a fast paced growth team, that cannot be sustained when playing against some of the best teams in the world.
