High Pressing 433 FM24 Tactic

Introduction

I know what you are thinking, not another high pressing 433 FM24 tactic, right? Well this one actually works and is really easy to use.

As always we have tested it with a range of teams in a range of countries to see how well it works and it has not disappointed.

Stick around if you like goals!

Tactic Overview

So first things first let’s look at this high pressing 433 FM24 tactic, what are the roles, the instructions and what motivated me to create it. Any one who knows me, knows that I follow the Johan Cruyff way of life, and I would rather win 5-4 than 1-0.

A long time ago, I did a project for a team to understand how to win a league or cup competition. Well I am still trying to understand the cup competition, I understand how to win a league. I won’t bore you with the details of the project, but basically scoring goals will win you games, who would have thought it?

High Pressing 433 FM24 tactic

As you can see it’s an attacking mentality, which is risky but provides a lot of benefits in scoring goals. What is funny is that it is an attacking system, but it is a structured system where everyone knows their role.

Key Player Roles & Instructions

Let’s start with the individual moving parts that make this 433 FM24 tactic work. In a structured system every player has a role to play, if a player doesn’t play his role it will cause a weakness or burden other players with their job.

Let’s have a look at the roles.

Attacking Roles

We have a single striker with an Advanced Forward role flanked by two Wingers with attack duty. This is the pressing line to put a lot of pressure on the opponents back line. The Mezzala with attack duty also joins in and pushes up from midfield to intercept balls which are trying to progress through the middle.

There is no attacking role which scores more goals than the Advanced Forward, I have tried all roles and the closest is the Complete Forward. This means he is our main attacking threat. As turnovers in the opponents half is going to be key, the Advanced Forward is one of the best.

Midfield Roles

So let’s move onto the dynamic trio in our midfield. As you may have noticed I have got 2 Mezzalas, this isn’t just because they are cool. They are both there to help overload the half spaces when we attack. The support one is there to create chances while the attacking Mezzala is there to make the dangerous runs.

Support these guys while they move around the pitch causing chaos is the Deep Lying Playmaker. He is these for two reasons, one to provide a bit of balance as the Mezzalas are moving about and to recycle the ball and help dictate tempo. I did use a Regista at first, but the role was never effective.

Defence Roles

Let’s start with the Wing Backs in the Attack role. To add to the movement and chaos of the tactic we have the Wing Backs to pin back the opposition and help stretch the opposition.

I’ve gone with Centre Defenders to help to protect the defence rather than Ball Playing Defenders which may make sense with playing out of defence. Not much to see here, but their main job is defending.

To complete the roles of the team we have a Sweeper Keeper to mop up any balls over the top. With the high line you are prone to high balls or through balls. If you do find this the Sweeper Keeper can reduce this and also dropping the defensive line a notch.

Team Instructions Explained

This is where we explain the team instructions of the team, how the tactic works and other options you could look at.

  • In Possession – Shorter Passing, Pass Out From Defence, Be More Disciplined, Higher Tempo and Wider.
  • Transition – Distribute Quickly, Counter and Counter Press.
  • Out of Possession – High Defensive Line, High Press, Press More Often.

Strengths of the 433 FM24 Tactic

The main strength of this formation is that we are looking to compress the opposition and force turnovers of the ball. Simple as that really, like the Counter Press systems in Germany.

We are aiming to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly transition to attack. This is why we are using fast moving roles in the forward positions.

Like the Counter Press teams of old, like Dortmund and Mainz, aim to get younger players in with high physical stats to make this work well.

Weaknesses & How to Fix Them

One of the biggest problems you will face with this high pressing 433 FM24 tactic is that you conceded a lot of goals. This isn’t a big problem if you are constantly out scoring your opposition, but if your strikers low down, that is a problem.

The easiest way to combat this challenge is to drop the defensive line a notch and see how you get on. If you are still conceding a lot of goals from through balls you may need to recruit faster defenders.

Best Teams for this Tactics

As I said previously, this High Pressing 433 FM24 tactic is perfect with younger teams with high physical attributes. Some of the teams we has particular success with were:

  • Lille (Ligue 1)
  • Gladbach (Bundesliga)
  • Fiorentina (Serie A)

Results & Testing

Here I have a couple of screenshots of the High Press 433 FM24 Tactic. We have had some really good results in the first season with this tactic as you will see. The main one was winning Serie A with Fiorentina in the first season.

Fiorentina Results 433 FM24 Tactic

As you can see this was a tight finish on the way to the final game and it ended as a playoff which I wasn’t expecting. We also scored the most in he league with over 2 goals a game.

Lille Results 433 FM24 Tactic

Lille was another interesting one, with the young squad it made it easier to play the tactic. We scored a lot of goals, but run out of steam towards the end of the season.

Final Thoughts

If you like attacking football or if you like goals, then this High Press 433 FM24 Tactic could be one for you. It provides a lot of fun and boosts the values of your attackers so you could make a decision of performance or profit.

If you take the profit you can then reinvest in better more suited players. This makes the game even more fun and feeds into the philosophy of your club.

Enjoy the tactic guys!
