Tottenham FM26 Team Guide – Continuing the success

Let’s embrace “To dare is to do”

Welcome to the Tottenham FM26 team guide! This is always one of my favourite team guides to write as

In this Tottenham FM26 team guide we are going to look at who our key players are, the tactics we need to succeed and potential transfer targets.

By the end of this guide you will have fundamental understanding of how to manage Tottenham.

Tottenham FM26 Club Overview

This is our step in the journey of the Tottenham FM26 team guide, the board and supporter expectations. This is where we review the expectations of the club and use them to mould our identity going forward. Ignore these expectations at your peril, if you hit a bad patch of form you do not want to give them a reason to sack you.

So let’s start with the board objectives. They want to develop players using the club’s youth system. This is a fantastic objective as it allows you create Barcelona-esque recruitment system.

You bring the youth players through who are good enough, around 2-4 blooded each season. If there are any gaps in positions you fill them by buying players. Barcelona ended up with 50% academy trained at one point.

Moving onto the Supporter objectives we can see that while they agree on developing youth, their focus is on tactical style too. They want attacking, entertaining and possession football, which straight away indicates a Gegenpress or Tiki Taka style.

Key Players

This part of the Tottenham FM26 team guide is where we put the foundations in place to build our tactic. We need to identify who our key players are, so players rated over 3 star current ability. We then map out a formation using their best positions to play them to their strengths.

It’s an interesting read looking at the Spurs key players, there are 2 major injuries to 2 top players. There is however a really strong core to this team with 2 great centre backs, 2 top central midfielders and a decent striker. We could be looking at a Mourinho build here with experience down the centre.

Best Youth Prospects

Our next step is to look at the quality of our youngsters, anyone player with potential ability over 3 stars. We then follow the same pattern as we did with the key players by mapping out their positions.

This formation mapping could not be easier, a 4231 is begging to be played with this team effectively. It’s actually a credit to the club that they have strong plan in place when it comes to strategy and recruitment. It’s also nice to see that they have 4 players with maximum potential, make use of them.

Tottenham FM26 Wonderkids & Young Talents

I have included the wonderkids section in the Tottenham FM26 team guide just to bring to your attention the talent you have available. These players need to be focussed on and prioritised to be pushed into the first team squad. They are:

  • Mikey Moore
  • Jamie Donley
  • Ashley Phillips
  • Wilson Odobert
  • Kota Takai
  • Mathys Tel
  • Tyrese Hall
  • George Abbott
  • Yang Min-Hyeok
  • Archie Gray
  • Lucas Bergvall
  • Callum Olusesi
  • Luka Vuskovic

As you can see this is a long list of talent and it will take skilled manager to juggle them.

Tottenham FM26 Tactics & Best Formation

This is my favourite part of the Tottenham FM26 team guide, the tactic build. We review all the data from the previous sections in order to build a tactic with synergy with the club. I really like this one, because it is fresh and effective.

We have gone with the Gegenpress tactical style as it was the bridge with the fans objectives. They wanted attacking and entertaining football, so they are going to get it. We have obviously gone with the 4231 DM after reviewing the key player and youngster reports.

This one is a slightly different transition to other FM26 tactics that I have built in the past. The basics are that one of the DMs will move forward into AM, the two full backs invert to DM. This creates a 5 man attack and will provide goals.

This is a 23 defence and the notice the midfield line is across the park is in DM. This is because of the exposure of the 2 DCs if they go to MC.

This shape works even better if you use the 424 Brazil transition model.

Transfer Recommendations for Tottenham in FM26

Positions to Strengthen

So it’s unusual but actually the Tottenham FM26 team guide isn’t recommending any particular position to buy. The only thing I would suggest is to introduce a recruitment policy and stand by it.

Make some rules and follow it to the letter and see what happens.

Potential Signings

Targeting – 18-23 years olds, in leagues outside the top 5.

Gegenpress attributes – Work Rate, Acceleration, Stamina, Anticipation, Aggression.

Key Target – Kenneth Taylor (Rich clubs), Matias Galarza (Moderate Clubs), Killian Phillips (Low Budget).

Tottenham FM26 Save Challenges

I think there is two challenges I am interested in using the Tottenham FM26 team guide. They are to win the Premier League in the first season and then to give two fingers to Arsenal beat their unbeaten Invincibles streak.

Conclusion

Spurs are an intriguing club at the moment with plenty of change. The chairman, manager and a number of players have changed and the club feels different. Thomas Frank is bringing his Brentford experience over and it could be great. They have a young and talented squad so thy are building to something great.

I used the Tottenham FM26 team guide for half a season and I was quite surprised how good Tottenham were. At Christmas we are second in the league to Man City, could this be the year?

Give Spurs a go today and have some fun with a free flowing attacking team.
