The Creative Force
This is the list for the Premier League chance creators of 2024/25. These are the players orchestrate the attacks, make chances for the forwards and change games.
These guys are the creative minds, while sometimes not getting stuck in, they love the ball at their feet and dictating tempo.
Introduction
Here we are again, this time with the top Premier League chance creators, the guys that make teams tick, the guys that put balls into a capable striker who can put it away. Last time we covered the Top 10 Duellers in the EPL, so here we go with creators.
This top ten ranking is based on a module we call chance creation. This is a very important module as it is has a direct correlation to winning games. Basically the idea is that if you create more chances than your opposition each match you will win 75% of your matches.
This is obviously very rewarding and so we have put together a range of 10 metrics to accurately assess each player in the EPL to display who the top Premier League chance creators are.
Top 10 Premier League Chance Creators of 2024/25
10. Kevin De Bruyne – Man City
Rating: 48.86
The myth, the legend was always going to appear on this list. Despite missing 12 games of the season he managed to get in this list, that just shows his quality. While he is a creative all rounder, it’s his key passes and finding his man that makes him unreal.
9. Jacob Murphy – Newcastle
Rating: 50.25
This one surprised me, I know he had a good season, but I didn’t realise how good. Murphy has been nothing short of sensational this season for Newcastle and in turn it’s helped them score more goals to push them up the league.
8. Enzo Fernandez – Chelsea
Rating: 52.17
Where to start? This season has been the season of the midfield at Chelsea, it’s all starting to click with Palmer, Fernandez and Caicedo. What a trio that is!
Both Palmer and Fernandez are very creative and create numerous chances every game, Fernandez in particular excels in expected assists and key passes.
7. Martin Odegaard – Arsenal
Rating: 53.03
Despite being injured for 14 games towards the start of the season, just like De Bruyne it shows you how good he is to still get in the top ten. Odegaard is a truly excellent player in that attacking midfield area.
While like the others on this list is great all round at creating chances and play, it’s the amount of potential assists he creates each game. He just needs that player that puts them away.
6. Mikkel Damsgaard – Brentford
Rating: 56.15
One of my personal favourites, it’s fantastic to see him flourishing. He is really good across the board when it comes to creativity, assists per 90, xA, key passes and many more.
While Brentford are having a good season, it’s credit to the guys like Damsgaard that Brentford performs so well as a team. While Thomas Frank has left the core of the team is still there and it’s important they carry on doing what they are doing.
5. Bryan Mbeumo – Brentford
Rating: 58.95
Another amazing performer from Brentford! Rated as one of the top five players in the Premier League by us. It’s no wonder there are a few clubs, namely Man United trying to steal him away. This just shows what Brentford have to offer and why other teams are watching.
Mbeumo has been amazing in all areas, but it’s the assists that he has actually created sets him above most of the players, unreal season and I’m surprised more teams aren’t looking to buy him. He deserves to be on the Premier League chance creators top ten list!
4. Bukayo Saka – Arsenal
Rating: 62.11
This is a funny one, we all know how talented Saka is. He basically played half a season and managed to come fourth in the league for chance creation. The story is he played great in the first half of the year and then had a bad injury, but it an incredible first half of the season.
The main stand out metric for Saka is the quality of ball he is putting in. He puts the ball in such dangerous places giving his team every chance to score goals. If Arsenal had that clinical striker they would be winning this league.
3. Cole Palmer – Chelsea
Rating: 63.44
The boy wonder! While he has had some criticism for the difference between the first and second half of the season, he is talented. His first half of the season was so good, that anything in the second half of the season would look bad.
Moments of magic like the Europe Conference league sets him apart from the rest. Palmer has this knack of not just creating chances, but high quality chances and it’s paying off for Chelsea.
2. Bruno Fernandes – Man United
Rating: 64.07
Now here is a talking point, Bruno! Some people think he’s overrated, but when diving into the stats he really is that good. Man United nearly lost him a little while ago to the Saudi league, but he didn’t want to go and that’s good for United.
So where does he excel in creativity? Where doesn’t he excel? Should be the question. He supplies so many key passes and xA each game, in quality and quantity. He is a difference maker each season.
1. Mo Salah – Liverpool
Rating: 80.43
King Mo tops the Premier League chance creators! There is no two ways about it, Salah performing this well was a big contributor to them winning the league. It is a team game, but his performance in the last season was incredible. His rating of 80.43 is the highest I’ve ever calculated in chance creation.
So what makes Mo great? Everything, plus he is a goal scorer and provider so he is involved in all attacks and involved effectively. While I suspect it will difficult to match this level of performance any time soon, Wirtz will be giving it a go.

Who Just Missed the Cut?
So who missed out on Premier League chance creators? Well there were a few decent efforts that missed the top ten.
Anthony Elanga had a breakout season with Forest, who also had a high performing season. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with him next season, as a few clubs are interested and Forest are on a spending spree at the moment.
Alex Iwobi, Fulham have performed admirably and Iwobi is a big part of that. His passing is lethal and he is good at finding his mark to chance high value chances.
Savio, I appreciate that not everyone is a fan, but if you watch what this guy does with the ball and his build up play, you can see that he is a big talent.
What These Stats Tell Us About Premier League Chance Creators
There are three observations that I noticed while calculating the Premier League chance creators.
1. Not all teams seem to favour creating chances.
As you can see from the top ten there are a number of clubs missing such as West Ham, Brighton and Ipswich. This indicates that they have a very balanced system when attacking, they are not creating enough chances or that they do not have the quality.
2. There seems to be two main types of creative player.
In my mind, what I am seeing is two main types of creator. You have the well balanced good at everything creator or the great passing creator who focuses on quality passes.
3. Cole Palmer is a big creator but suffering poor finishing team mates.
From the various metrics we can see that Palmer is great at everything in terms of creation and the number of chances he creates. If Chelsea had an effective clinical forward it would be crazy. Hopefully Delap can provide that and more.
