Phew! Time for a break
Welcome back to more Sun Dream Team tips, this time for GW4. We’ve got an international break to work through until the Premier League is back. This could cause so many headaches if we go to early.
Let’s have a look at what GW4 has in store!
What a week GW3 was, not what we planned for! A couple of upsets at Forest and for City, but it’s still early in the season. I am a bit later than planned with this blog as I decided to refine the model and update the transfers from the deadline day.
Deadline day was great and we had plenty of movement both in and out of the Premier League.
GW3 Round Up
This week was a slow week and we lost quite a bit of ground of the leaders, but I have also noticed that a large portion of people have used a token already. We still have our full complement, but we need to use them at strategic times as we mentioned in out Sun Dream Team tips previously.
A few things I need to work on, is the defence and the goal scorers. We are rather inconsistent in these areas by GW4. Gyokeres is a target to take out, he has gone up in value so we make some money on him, but I find that he struggles against the bigger teams. With this in mind they play Forest, Man City and Newcastle, even if the first two are at home.

Ekitike has also got a worry over his head, Isak joined Liverpool. Now it is unlikely Liverpool will start him from GW4 as he is lacking match practice, but he will start to limit Ekitike’s minutes, which means less opportunities. The only thing I can see that comes from this is Ekitike moves out to the left in time, but that means Gakpo is dropped.
Reinildo may be the next out the door as we have made a decent profit and we are hitting the time when being a European competition club starts to benefit. Ideally, we want all players in European competitions in order to maximise our games and chances to score points. The same goes for Yoro in the next few weeks.
Either way, disappointing week, but we move on towards our goal.
Sun Dream Team Tips for GW4 Fixtures
You will see in your team that your players are now showing two fixtures a week, this is when the big scoring weeks start and a good time to start thinking about using a chip because there are more opportunities. With that said let’s look at the next European features.
European Fixtures
So there are no ‘easy’ fixtures to target in the first round of the Champions League as far as I can see. Man City have Napoli, Newcastle have Barcelona, Spurs have Villarreal, Arsenal have Bilbao, Chelsea have Bayern and Liverpool have Atletico.
Then in Europa League Aston Villa vs Bologna, Forest away to Betis with Palace playing Dynamo Kiev in the Conference. We are obviously going to want to have players in Europe, but I can’t see any need to use the tokens just yet.
Premier League Fixtures
As usual the Sun Dream Team tips model has done it’s stuff and earmarked the strongest fixtures. The strongest fixtures this week are:
- Burnley v Liverpool – This is effectively top versus bottom. Liverpool have focussed on their attack, let’s see if they can walk away with the win here.
- West ham v Tottenham – This is a tough game, West Ham just beat Forest and Tottenham came up short against Bournemouth. Rivalry game, I would avoid, but the Model has gone strong on Spurs.
- Brentford v Chelsea – This time last year it would have been a tough ask, but I just think Chelsea are far too strong this year.
- Fulham v Leeds – Fulham need to wake up a bit now, these are the fixtures they need to be winning to resume from last year. The Model has said big Fulham win.
- Arsenal v Forest – This is going to be an important game for both teams. Both coming off the back of a loss, and needing to resume their journey. Tough game, but Arsenal edge it.
- Newcastle v Wolves – Wolves look weak this year and I can see a decent win for Newcastle here. Hopefully the new strikers at Newcastle do their thing.
- Palace v Sunderland – While Sunderland look good at home, there is room for improvement on the road. It’s still early, but Palace can take advantage of this, especially with their new signings.
GW3 Sun Dream Team Tips for Transfers
This is where my Sun Dream Team tips can help you, which players to pick and why. We’ve seen the fixtures and what the model reckons in terms of winners, let’s now take that and choose which players would benefit.
There are going to be a few risky ones here and also some may change due to the international break and any injuries that occur. So keep an eye closer to the time.
Transfers In
A Newcastle Striker – I want to stick my neck out and say Woltemade as the model loves his stats from last year. I have a suspicion that Wissa will get the nod though, probably with the assumption of EPL experience.
I don’t like the risk of clean sheets when away from home, so I will not recommend any defenders for away teams. Arsenal defenders will probably be the premium in GW4 as they are at home to Forest and benefit from set pieces. Mosquera and Hincarpie could really come into their own here, failing that Gabriel would be lethal too.
At Fulham their defence excels at home and Robinson is the top pick in the defence, not just for defence but he contributes to the attack as well.
I wouldn’t rush to Isak at the moment as he isn’t match fit, but I do expect to see him off the bench in the next few games to get his chance. There is no way they will keep him out the team that long.
The next talking point is who from Chelsea and who from Spurs could be options? Well I’ll answer the Spurs question first, Xavi Simons. This guy is going to go from strength to strength and it might be worth getting in now.
The Chelsea picks are interesting, if Garnacho looks like starting I would have a punt on him. He brings a lot of talent with him and United will miss him.
Transfer Out
I’m avoiding West Ham players as I want to see some more form, and that’s coming from a fan. I think Paqueta could have an uptick in form regardless and has a massive contribution to the success of the team.
Forest going away to Arsenal after losing to West Ham could be a disaster. I really want Bakwa in, but I want to see how they react first. After Arsenal they have a fairly good run of fixtures.
Forget Wolves and Sunderland in my opinion. Wolves look terrible this year already and the model dislikes them too. Sunderland look really good at home, but I am to convinced with the away form and lack of Europe.
Conclusion
Well done making it to the conclusion of the Sun Dream Team tips for GW4. We have covered a lot this week, but there is still so much to explore. We are now starting to see values changing, people using tokens early doors and the introduction of Europe and other cups.
Good Luck out there and remember to think ahead!
