GW1 is done, now it’s on
So the EPL has started with a bang and so has the Sun Dream Team! Welcome to our Sun Dream Team tips for GW2, where we help you push ahead.
This is the moment we find out if our plans come to fruition, did we pick a dud or have we got a star on our hands? Or maybe we need a complete revamp.
Welcome to GW2 to those who are still interested! I had a fairly good start with my team in the top 25,000 and on 84 points. How did your GW1 go, was it a hit or a miss? Never mind either way, we are here to help you with our Sun Dream Team tips for GW2.
In this series I will be looking at the good, the bad and the ugly. I will look at the fixtures for this week, the players think are worth buying and the players worth selling. As well as this I will be looking at captain choices and any chips that might be worth playing.
GW1 Round Up
So here is my Sun Dream Team that I picked for GW1. I went with the 352 to limit my defensive exposure and exaggerate my midfield, but now I’m wondering if I did my myself wrong.
Either way we got 84 points and find ourselves in the top 25k. We are a little off the pace we need to win it, but it is only one fixture a week at the moment.

The good news is that everyone played, although Cherki was a close one, starting on the bench, but scoring when he came on. A couple of disappointing performances from Palmer and Gyokeres. Palmer will come good and be one of the top scorers, while I have doubts about Gyokeres.
Also I apologise, because Wirtz didn’t perform as well as I said he would, but he will soon! I promise.
The defence was great this week even though it was a four team defence. You tend to expect one or two teams to concede in a four team defence, but we got a full house! Rather impressive.
Sun Dream Team Tips for GW2 Fixtures
Right so let’s look at the fixtures for next week and where we can improve our Sun Dream Team. Here are the fixtures, what do you think will happen this week?

Seeing this list of fixtures, the model has picked out Arsenal and Bournemouth to be the top picks in the next week. Then Liverpool and Chelsea as mid card picks, followed by Forest, Sunderland and Man City as the fillers. These are obviously early days and these predictions are from small datasets.
Despite losing to Liverpool, I thought Bournemouth looked good and they definitely have goals in their team. I would probably avoid the defence as they maybe be a little leaky.
Arsenal should dominate Leeds at home, especially if they are going for the title this year. In teams of Sun Dream Team tips, Arsenal’s defence could be a great pick for a clean sheet and also any set pieces. The only problem with Arsenal player is that I will be transferring them out for the Liverpool game the week after.
I think Chelsea are an obvious choice, but be careful West Ham turn up sometimes. Liverpool have got Newcastle and while I think they will win, it feels like a personal game after the summer transfer window.
The other thing to mention is the newly promoted teams will start their League Cup journey.
Sun Dream Team Transfer Tips
Transfer In
The picks I have for Bournemouth is Semenyo (£4.5m) if you want a midfielder, so he can picks points up at either end. Also while I said don’t pick a defender I am big fan of Truffert (£3m), he adds to both the attack and the defence. They are playing Wolves so there is a chance that Wolves won’t score.
The picks for Arsenal are easy choices, I’ve gone with either Saliba (£5m) or Ben White (£4m). I think it’s an easy choice to go with their defence and if I don’t I’m leaving points on the table and risking others. One thing I don’t want to do is overload on Arsenal as they play Liverpool the week after.
Chelsea are up against West Ham. Chelsea seem defensively solid and I can’t see West Ham scoring, so a switch to a couple of Chelsea defenders may be sensible. The usual suspects of Cucurella (£4.5m), James (£4m), Sanchez (£3.5m) come to mind, but the wall that Caicedo (£4m).
I am happy to load up on Liverpool here, as they have Liverpool at Anfield the week after. The main area is going to be the forwards Ekitike (£5m) did well first game, you can’t ignore Salah (£7.5m), Wirtz (£6m) is going to fly soon and also Gravenberch (£4m) could be back.
A few other shoutouts, Anderson (£3.5m) and Gibbs-White (£4.5m) at Forest, Ait-Nouri (£4.5m) and Reijnders (£4.5m) at Man City, and Habib Diarra (£2.5m) at Sunderland.
Transfer Out
Liverpool defenders, simple. Liverpool are focussed on one thing and that is scoring goals, their defenders are supporting the attack. Against Newcastle I can see goals at both ends, and we don’t want to be losing clean bonuses.
Arsenal players potentially, while it’s should be a straight forward game against Leeds you do not want to overload your Sun Dream Team with players that you need to transfer out the week after.
Brentford, Aston Villa and Brighton all have potentially tough games which could go either way. I’ve avoided them until we see a bit more from all of them and their new signings.
Conclusion
While it is early days there are plenty of players which will gain you points, and I like to think we have given you enough options for GW2 for your Sun Dream Team. There is a long way to go, but if you keep a healthy rotation like the tinkerman and plan a couple of weeks in advance you can gain lots of points.
Good luck for GW2 guys, it’s getting exciting already!
