Financial problems are never a good thing in football. Everton FC have paid the price on FM24 for this starting from -10 points. If you want a challenge then this club is a challenge at the moment. The resources are limited, the squad is just under an average size and you start off at the back of the field.

In this guide we are going to:

  • Look at the end of season league performance and individual performances.
  • We will look at the tactics which have been used.
  • Where the team will go next.

Read on to see how we overcame these obstacles with Everton FC in the Premier League on FM24!

Everton FC results on FM24

First things first, let’s look at the team performance. This section is where we measure how well the team has done when compared to the club and supporter objectives. Everton FC on FM24 have an uphill battle, but I feel the objective was avoiding relegation is fair enough.

So on first impressions we didn’t trouble the top teams, which is no real surprise. We did however become the best of the rest, which is a good start after a -10 points handicap. When we break it down we have 50% win rate and scoring over 2 goals a game. The problem is the goals conceded, over 60, this is something to focus on.

Our scoring record is something impressive, 90 goals, third only to the two top teams in the league. This gives us a lot of hope for the future, meaning we can focus on the other end of the field. Overall when you take into account the wins, the goals scored and conceded, then we have finished where we deserve.

Individual Performances

Now this is where we get to the real heroes of Everton FC on FM24. With individual stats we can assess which players are the strength and weakness of this team. This data will provide indicators of where we need to prioritise our training and recruitment.

It is always nice to see as many players as we have playing over a a 7 rating. We can make a team out of those players, but what is interesting is that most of the defenders have not played over 7. So straight away we need to look at the recruitment of our defence, the tactics and training/coaching staff.

Looking at the passing completion stats we have some work to do. A lot of the players in the team have achieved at least 85% passing, short passing in the 442 maybe too risky. We could potentially look at extending the passing distance. We can also see a lot of the assists are coming down the wings, so we could push the ball out wide.

Looking at the Xg data we have a lot of over performing players. Mateta, who we signed in January after Beto left, is nearly 5 over his rating. Calvert Lewin is another heading towards 5 too, while Doucoure and Garner have doubled their expectations.

Everton FC tactics on FM24

This is where we look at the tactic that we have used this season with Everton FC on FM24. We tend to use the tactic that we developed in the day one series, and then discuss any changes or potential changes. We decided on a 442 due to the players at our disposal and the gegenpress due to the objectives of the club.

The way this tactic works is by defending in the middle and pushing the ball out wide to fast creative players. They then in turn cross the ball into the middle and voila! Goals galore from our top end strikers. In terms of changes, we need to start passing the ball to the wings. We could also look at changing the roles up front to an advanced forward and deep lying forward.

Defensively we need to start looking at our defence system. We could potentially change to a mid block as well have double cover out wide and a strong centre. To dictate how compact we are we need to look at the average pace of the backline. There is plenty to look at here to push the team forward, both the MCs are really important defensively.

Conclusion

Everton FC have been a very effective team on FM24. The goals have come freely and we have been competitive all season. I was concerned the gegenpress might put too much pressure on the small squad at Everton FC. Calvert Lewin was absolutely fantastic and could potentially be the best striker in the league, excluding Haaland.

The strength of the team is the attack. It creates so many quality chances and scores loads too. How can you not enjoy a forward line like that. There isn’t much to change here, we will upgrade a few players as we go along, Danjuma is on loan and will need replacing.

The weakness to the team is the squad size. To keep up the great performances we need to introduce some squad depth. When playing with a small squad injuries and suspensions can wreck them team or worse fatigue.

The opportunity here is that there are a number of home based young players coming through. This is where we need to support the youth system, upgraded the facilities and get the youth coaches in. Also look at the training schedules and try to poach youngsters from other clubs.

The threat is if the financial situation gets any worse. Everton do not have a handle on their finances at the moment, the sooner a board takeover happens the better. Until that happens, you need to be vigilant about your direct finances and make sure they do not get out of control.
