Building FM24 tactics with Pendikspor

Here we are with another instalment of managing in the Turkish Super League. This is where we take over each team in the Turkish Super League and build FM24 tactics to get you started. The problem with most managers in a new country is that they do not know who their first eleven is.

This FM24 tactics guide is for Pendikspor. They have never featured in the Super Lig in Turkey until now, this is a fresh opportunity to write their history. In terms of a challenge this is going to be one of the top ones in the Turkish league. The media think you are going down, you are new to the league and have an average squad at best.

The first place that we start with our FM24 tactics is by looking at the board and supporter objectives. This will tell us the culture of club and what is expected from us in the football style we employ. Also it will give us any restrictions on our recruitment and our tactics.

So after looking at the board objectives we can see that they are not looking to have a hand in our tactics. You can look at this in two ways, either they do not care or that they have given you the creative freedom to keep them up this year. Which ever way you look at it, you need to keep them up in this division.

The supporters are much the same, while I imagine they are very passionate about the club. This great for a manager that wants to work with the players at his disposal or wanting to use a clean slate tactic.

So the next step in building our FM24 tactics, is to assess the squad, see who are best players are and how we structure our tactic around them. To keep it simple we use the assistant reports, the current ability stars. We will push the standard by using 3 star ability as our cut off in the squad. Anyone over 3 stars is a key player in the squad.

Now that we have sorted our squad into key, players and outward players we need to look at the positions they cover. Looking at the key players, we have a strong left and centre of the team. We will need to strength the right hand side at a later date. The obvious formations this points to are 433, 4231 and 442 attacking.

Let’s see where the squad players cover us. We have an abundance of AMRs, which is annoying as you can only have so many wingers, we will need to move 1 or 2 on. It’s also become clear that we can field 2 strikers in this formation. This is important as the strikers we have are not good enough to play solo upfront, so two will provide a better threat.

Pendikspor Tactics

So the next part is the most important step for FM24 tactics, putting together all our assumptions. This is the very fabric of our culture that we are trying to play.

I have settled on a 442 attack as it suits all the positions that we have available. It was a close call with the 4231, but we only have one attacking midfielder and we need to play two strikers.

I always look at how we score the goals and work backwards through the tactic. So we have two strikers playing different roles, one will push past the opposition the other will drop deep to pick up the ball, pulling a defender with him.

We also have a winger pushing our wide and an inside forward that will attack the space the deep lying forward has left. Basically we are going to manipulate the positions of the opposition defence.

Defensively we playing in a low block due to the lack of pace in the defence. As we have a fairly fast front line we have direct passing to break quickly and put the defence on the back foot. We have a ball winning midfielder to help screen the defence through the centre.

Building FM24 tactics with Pendikspor couldn’t be easier, you have complete freedom on the tactic you want to build. The real challenge with Pendikspor is you have a team of average players looking to make history against some very good teams. If you like underdogs, this could be the team for you.

The strength of the squad is the pace of the front line, while it is not very high for the top leagues in the Super Lig, it will do damage. The weakness of the team is the defence, it is very slow and as a result it gives us very few options on style of defensive structure.

The opportunity is that this is your first ever season in the Super Lig. Make some history to be proud of and go to progress this club. The threat is that if you do not stay up this year. It means it will be a blip in the history books and set the club’s progress back.
