Team Objectives
So in order for us to form a strategy for Newcastle United we need to first understand the expectations of the board and the supporters on FM24. The Newcastle United supporters are some of the most passionate in the world and we need to recognise what they want and how it synergies with what the board wants.
On first inspection, I’m a little underwhelmed by the objectives for the board and the supporters on FM24. The supporters want basically what every club in the Premier League wants, attacking football and entertaining football. I like that they want to trigger high pressing football too, this is a club with an identity. These objectives will all need to be catered for in the tactics.
Obviously, we cannot forget that they want Champions League qualification, which is a challenge in itself. As for Sunderland I doubt we will see them anytime soon, apart from in the cups, so we need to be on our best behaviour in those games. Overall the fans are an ambitious bunch and are looking at the next natural steps.
The board on the other hand are a very autonomous group. They simply want me to develop players using the club youth system. This will be our usual strategy of scouts with identifying youth attributes, coaches that work well with youngsters and getting the youth facilities upgraded as much as possible.
Increasing the clubs commercial revenue on FM24 is an interesting one. You can do this through being successful in competitions and through growing the club’s reputation (coincidentally another objective for the board). You can also buy foreign superstars from high commercial areas like USA, China and Japan. If you buy talent from those parts of the world you increase shirt sales and revenue.
Newcastle United first 11
Let’s analyse the data available for the team, the current ability stars. The great thing about the current ability stars on FM24 is that it highlights the key players in the squad. It also highlights any weaknesses in the team which helps you to identify any replacements.
Let’s have a look at the key players at Newcastle United. The first thing I have noticed is that we have two forwards which do the same job. While they are both very good forwards, I cannot see the benefit of playing too attacking forwards apart from in the last 10/20 minutes chasing a game. Other than that we have a strong core in midfield.
Looking at the possible formations, there are so many available already. There is distinct lack of width in the key players so a 4132, 433 DM and 4141 are all possible. Moving onto the main squad, we do have so wingers, so that provides width lets us play attacking formations. Also we have a goalkeeper, we definitely need a goal keeper.
The overall squad at Newcastle United is very small compared to other teams. This is a dangerous position to be in as it makes us vulnerable to injuries and suspensions with the amount of games we will play. The good news is that a complete back four with a goal keeper have been established here.
Newcastle United Tactics
This is where the magic happens, where we put it all together and see what it looks like. So after the discussion above regarding how we were going to line up this is what we have decided to go with. It’s great formation for attacking and possession, as well as closing down. All of these are part of the FM24 objectives that the board and supporters wanted.
Let’s start from where the goals come from. Whether we play Isak or Wilson, it will not matter, they are the same style of striker. We want to ball the ball along the floor and into space. This brings us to the wide players, no need to push wide with wingers and stetch the play or cross. These wide players are going to drive into the centre of defence and overload with the forward.
The DM and DCs are solid as a rock and will recycle possession by playing long balls out wide. The width will be great for creating chances and then the getting the ball back in to score from a central position.

Newcastle United on FM24 will be a fun game for anyone. They are an ambitious club that want to push into the elite European competition. There are plenty of great players in an otherwise small squad. As well as that, there will be plenty of money along the way to fund your aspirations.
The main strength to this team is the quality that they have in the core of the team. It is a solid team, especially as most of them are key players in the team. The weakness is that there are no wide players in the key players of the squad. While this is not the end of the world, it will certainly be a problem to an attacking team.
The opportunity for this team are the unlimited resources provided you are following the objectives. While playing this team you could have anything you need provided you meet their expectations. The threat of the team is how small the squad is. While you can fetch up from the youth team are they any good? It provides problems with so many fixtures in both Europe and the EPL.
